Child and Adolescent Counseling

Our therapeutic process involves an authentic relationship that offers a space of unconditional positive regard to help older kids (10+) and teens live into who God made them and learning to accept themselves. Children and adolescents experience the same feelings that adults do, but from a different perspective.

With knowledge and understanding of the adolescent developmental perspective, Linda and Elizabeth have a special touch to be able to bridge the gap in parent and kid communication and understanding.

“When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary”. – Fred Rogers

Navigating childhood and adolescence is not an easy task. Kids today face many obstacles: bullying, changing family dynamics, peer relationships, self esteem, anxiety, perfectionism, and of the challenges that come in living in today’s world. Children, adolescents, and teens need a healthy emotional and psychological outlet as they learn to navigate their world. As a parent you want your child to grow up and become a healthy and happy contributing member to society. Counseling is a way to help guide and assist children and their parents through life’s challenges.

At Abiding Hope, we believe it is necessary to understand teens in the system in which they function, which is the family. Using this approach to therapy, we work with teens and parents to bridge the gap in communication and understanding. As parents, we know it’s hard to find someone you trust and that your child will trust to bridge the gap in understanding the parent/child dynamic.

We are honored to be entrusted with your child’s emotions and mental health.
